Welcome to the Elementary Islamic Studies and Quran class at Al-Iman School. We have a very busy and exciting year in store!

Before I give you a short preview of what will be covered during the course of this year, let me first introduce myself. I am Tatiana Coloso and I am from Virginia Beach, Virginia. This will be my third year at Al-Iman School and I consider myself very fortunate to be among such a professional faculty.

I realize that teaching your child is a privilege, as well as a tremendous responsibility. I will do my best this year to ensure that each student has a motivating and safe learning experience in the classroom. However, I cannot do this alone: I need your help. We both need to be partners in the learning process. I need each of you to encourage your child at home by helping to ensure that they have completed their assignments, help them study for quizzes, and Quran. I will keep you informed of all assignments and subjects that are covered in class with a weekly letter. Finally, I have included some information that may help answer some of your questions about Islamic Studies and Quran. You can find the objectives for Islamic Studies from the Bureau of Islamic and Arabic Education at the BIAE website. Also you will receive the Surahs we will be learning throughout the year during the first week of school. A few things are new this year in Quran. Students will be memorizing in class and at home along with learning the general meaning (tafsir) for each Surah we will be studying according to their age.

We have an exciting year ahead of us and I look forward to sharing your child’s experiences at school with you.
